The Journey of a Two Digit Begins with Three Digits

Image
Since our marriage, my wife has always advised me on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, needless to say, it fell on deaf ears, countless efforts of hers just failed to move the titan towards losing weight. August 2019, I went for my yearly medical check up and for the first time ever, I failed to reach level 3 of my stress test. Which was a stress of its own! (That's Warning #1). In September, I realised that I was having a whistling sound as I climbed stairs and mobility was limited when I tried putting on socks (Warning #2). Before I have to write about Warning #3, in my panic and fear thanks to Web MD where every symptom leads to cancer/stroke/heart failure, I visited my local doctor, who asked me the simplest question, "did you gain significant weight recently?" Well, here it is in the public portal, I was indeed heaviest that I have ever been at 152kg! She gave a simple solution, "lose your weight" and being a close family friend, it followed with a...

Installing Your Dashcam While Keeping Your Warranty Intact

Image
If you value your vehicle warranty and want to avoid getting into arguments with car manufacturers when hardwire solutions tap on your fusebox, you may opt to have your battery pack powered by your car's cigarette adapter. In my case, the car powers the Cellink Neo and that powers my dash cam allowing me to enjoy all the capabilities of my BlackVue dash cam. Check out my simple YouTube video below: CORRECTION: The hardwire cable shown at 1:30 and 2:18 is the hardwire cable for the Cellink Neo. I did not opt to get myself the BlackVue Hard-Wire Cable as I was clear on my intention thus not getting myself a Power Magic Pro was a part of the plan.

Kawasaki Versys Stock Shortage

It's coming close to 3 months that we placed our booking for Kawasaki Versys and still, up to now there is not a single indication of the arrival of the bikes. It's really reflecting badly on Kawasaki as a top notch manufacturer to be lacking in their production. Makes me question the competency of the production managers they have at Kawasaki! The latest reason we're hearing is that Kawasaki is having a tough time producing other models as they are rushing to fulfill the 250cc bikes that were ordered by Royal Malaysian Police! All in all, it is Kawasaki's lost as the competitors are fast taking the opportunity to get their products out in the market, giving second thoughts to people like me who are getting tired of waiting. So somebody up there in the office better be taking some actions or the consumers could turn to be the deciding factor to a dwindling confidence that is shedding faster than you could say 'Vroom Vroom'...

History Revisited!

Image
I wrote this entry last weekend as a continuation from my recent post on  Saffron Hills - Our Dream Home in the Making...  where history repeats itself. Approximately, 35 years ago in Berapit in a small town of Bukit Mertajam, a young man by the name of Ismail Khan moved into his new home with his family. Right behind his house, taking a slightly hilly path, was another family of Mr Shah Din who forged a bond so strong that their children grew up as friends, ever so unique was the brotherly bond between Mr Khan's youngest son, with the grandchildren of Mr Shah Din, Shane and Iman. Beyond any blood relation, their childhood friendship went to times of growing adults, to being masters of their own home and destiny. They saw everything thru together, the turmoils, the ups and downs, the laughters, the cries, the joys and the sorrows, whilst standing by each other without ever a second thought. As I smile joyfully today, with so much gratitude to the Almighty for bestowing...

Saffron Hills - Our Dream Home In The Making...

Entrance Path to Denai Alam Denai Alam , a secluded township 10KM from Shah Alam city has been one of our favourite places to reside in Klang Valley. Connected by the Guthrie Corridor Expressway and away from the hustle and bustle of the metropolitan Kuala Lumpur. Our discovery of Denai Alam for the first time was approximately 3 years ago, thanks to Shane bhai but at that time, we just couldn't afford to pay the price of the properties. The unique bit of Denai Alam lies in the developer behind the whole project, Sime Darby Property Berhad with accolades of high-end projects in Malaysia that are well thought-off and features unique architectures. Denai Alam is no different in presenting the hallmark of Sime Darby in terms of township development. A year ago, we were browsing for properties in Denai Alam and we even got a property agent to show us available units, among the various types of properties, Opulenia  made us wish we had the money to get our dream home, but as i...

Afriza... the Non-Mainstream Mother

Rania Khan finding solace in Afriza's arms...  2 more days and my li'l Ms Rania Khan would turn to be two months old! We thank The Almighty for bestowing us with the presence of this angel who has made us realise that there are so many things that we could still learn in raising a child, the challenges are plenty but the rewards are countless. Contrary to many beliefs, we are the parents that decided from the earliest beginning, that our child is our universe and not anyone else's. Simply because we have seen so many people posting on their social media that their child could do this and do that, but do we have rainbows shooting out our rears? I guess not and we did not want to be the same kind of parents, thus our album of Rania is only shared with close family and friends that would actually be interested in seeing her. And our family gatherings does not have the conversation starters of what amazing feat that Rania did but rather a moment of discovery when they r...

Passing of My Father and What It Taught Me

Image
"But dad, why do you need to travel hundreds of miles when the person who passed away has already been buried?", that's how one of my arguments with my dad was when he insisted on visiting a family of an acquaintance that passed away. "When someone leaves the world, he breaks all binds with the world that he has, but before the moment of burial, our presence is the way to show honour and respect to the person who has departed, and if that is not possible, visiting the family is to offer condolences during the difficult time and our mere presence in times of bereavement would mean a world to them", my dad explained while I, as always just scoffed away in disbelieve. Mayor Giulianni during 9/11 Tragedy It was years ago when I read about Rudy Giulianni, the ex-Mayor of New York who was in office during the 9/11 tragedy. Thousands lives, including hundreds of NYPD and FDNY were lost, and Mayor Giulianni ensured that he visited each family of the servicemen t...

Give The Douche A Chance... NOT!!!

Image
I had the chance to catch up with a girlfriend of mine last week for coffee. As we were catching up on things, she spoke of her recent encounter with a guy whom she had a crush for a long time. She knew this guy for sometime thru a mutual acquaintance and felt for him, for reasons that are not obvious to any of us. But heck, who am I to judge another person’s feelings right? She has been constantly making it obvious that she likes him, it was just short of putting up a banner on her forehead to tell this douche, but it was obvious to us that he was taking her for a ride! You see, it is usually hard for guys to judge if a girl likes him, women are born with the ability to conceal their feelings and not let it be shown as the nature states that if the guy knows, he will take it for granted. But for a girl to know if a man likes her, it is so darn easy, more so with him wagging his tail asking for attention every other time! Calls would come in, offers for a date, showers of gifts a...

Pregnant? Why not!

Image
I am writing with utter resentment on the journey that we have had so far... Me and wifey got married on October 2010... The blissful marriage granted upon us by The Almighty is the best gift He could ever bestow upon me, so much so that I regret for not getting married earlier on... As for challenges in life, we had a fair share of disappointments especially in our pursuit of having a child, I am sharing this today as we have both became an advocate for couples who aspire to be parents but are being told by God above, "you have to wait"... Yes it is painful, the disappointments and wiping it off to stand courageous for your partner and comforting her, when in solitude, you feel the misery itself... It does not help when we attend family functions and every single soul on earth would be questioning my wife on why is she not pregnant yet? So much so, that she began thinking of functions as an excruciating affair of answering while smiling and yet, feeling the pain deep dow...

Riding on Two Wheels

It's been a month plus that I have been riding on my brand new SYM and needless to say, the experience is exhilarating. Feeling the wind on my body and swaying on the open road has so far been something that I never experienced whilst driving and it did feel pretty awkward in the beginning. As time passes by and adapting to slightly hazardous environment of cars changing lanes without indicators or other bikers just dominating the open road, I tend to realise that sometimes we do take risk that is not calculated. As for me, I'm not vying for the title of the King of Open Road but would like to advise fellow bikers to always be safe and keep an eye out for other drivers and riders who are least bothered about their safety and of other road users! Ride safe and if we happen to have to our cruise on the open road, just wave and mutual respect shall be accorded to one and all! Khan Sent via Nexus BlackBerry® by Maxis

Coward Gladiators of The Modern World

Image
A  gladiator  ("swordsman", from the word gladius which means "sword") was an armed combatant who entertained audiences in the Roman Empire in violent confrontations with other gladiators, wild animals, and condemned criminals. Some gladiators were volunteers who risked their legal and social standing and their lives by appearing in the arena. Most were despised as slaves, schooled under harsh conditions, socially marginalized, and segregated even in death. Irrespective of their origin, gladiators offered audiences an example of Rome's martial ethics and, in fighting or dying well, they could inspire admiration and popular acclaim. They were celebrated in high and low art, and their value as entertainers was commemorated in precious and commonplace objects throughout the Roman world. Bravery, courage, honor and strength were among the words that describe this warriors. They were the respected men of the arena, feared for their abilities, respected for the...

Russell Peters - Major Disappointment by TicketPro and Air Asia RedTix

Image
It is definitely a big day of disappointment for fans of Russell Peters in Malaysia who were looking forward to catch him during his Notorious World Tour 2012. The fact is, I have been trying to refresh both TicketPro (http://www.ticketpro.com.my) and Air Asia Red Tix (http://redtix.airasia.com/) since morning to no avail with server failure greeting every F5 of mine!!! Last nite, viewing the seating chart showed that for most zones, tickets were marked as N/A. And this morning, just after two hours... it was only expensive zone tickets that were left!!! Are you seriously telling me that within that time period, all the tickets were snapped up or is it the typical Malaysian scenario, internal purchase was possible. I dare say this as I have couple of friends who managed to buy their tickets internally!!! This is really disheartening and proves once again, that even corporations are not spared from the Malaysian norm; "it's not what you know in Malaysia, it's WHO you ...

How NOT to Network and Lose Ad Dollars

Image
You see, sometimes when you are working with an organization that represents an elite brand, you tend to have your head up your own ass, which results in you acting like a 'jaguh kampung menang bola'... where you expect everyone else to be sucking up to you.  It's fine, but sometimes, you just gotta be a tad smart and realize that the person you just expect to kiss ur ass is the guy who has plenty of folks kissing up his ass and don't fancy it after sometime and in fact, despises those who use that approach.  Recently, a friend of mine was looking for a partner and naturally I suggested a brand that I am familiar with, having lost touch with some of the folks I knew, I requested a referral to someone who is currently handling it. Was given the clown's fb user name and having realized the magic of social network, I initiated contact and this is how it went:  Nexus Khan: Hi [Insert Dumbass Name] , got referred to you by [Friend's Name and Relation]  at [Old ...

Vision Board

All of us have dreams, some are big, some are small. Most importantly, what are the steps that we take in order to achieve those dreams. A constant visualisation of the dream would help in making those a reality.   As I was thinking on the same, my best bet was to have my visualisation on an online portal, simply because anything on the hard paper book would just end up in another pile and go missing, just like the earlier notebook I had, thus risking the dream to be abandoned.   Taking the content from the book that I had, and adding some new visions, my most recent vision board can be found at http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150392116733737.358285.688423736&type=1&l=426a388908   Now, looking back, am glad that most are achieved prior to target date, but those were the easily attainable dreams, let’s see if I can keep the same pattern with the bigger dreams. Godspeed to us (since every dream of mine has Afriza in it too!)

Blogger Test

Was just informed that Blogger has released an official iPhone app. Downloaded it and giving it a go, perhaps this would get me into writing my blog once again... Honestly, with the new job, it would be apt to start off a new blog that would focus on communications and how it impacts the message to the target audience. Definitely worth the time spent as it would give me the opportunity to sharpen my knowledge and up my skills further!

Memories Rekindled

Image
It's exactly 6 months to our marriage and here I am tonight thinking that it still feels like yesterday when we got married. I believe it's only natural for one to feel that way when every day seems like you are falling in love with that person all over again. As I always said, all my life I wished for a life partner that I thank God for letting me see her as she fall asleep and awakening thanking God for giving me another day to spend with her, I do indeed and I want my angel to know that I love her more than anything else in life, myself included. Thank you baby for walking down the aisle with me and for being the person walking beside me for the rest of my life. You're the reason for the joy in my heart and soul.
