Modern Age PR & Marketing

marketing PR & Marketing goes hand-in-hand, it is the essence of a company’s positioning and revenue growth… The question many experts are asking today, does the old methods of marketing works in the current business environment???

I’m not an expert award winning marketing consultant, but here’s my take on this… Just like how technology has evolved tremendously, so has the PR and Marketing approach…

Take this for example, 10 years ago, the internet was the least preferred medium for advertisers, but today, every organisation (Fortune 100) has a budget allocated for online ads.

Online Social Networking sites (Facebook, Friendster, MySpace), IM (Live Messenger, Yahoo etc) and Blogs (Google Ads, Nuffnang etc) are among the mediums that are leveraged in the modern business environment… read: Time Spent on Facebook up 700%, but MySpace Still Tops for Video

Why? Because that is where the majority of audiences are… Think of this, when was the last you visited Celcom website to obtain information? And when was the last time you logged in to FB and stumbling upon the most highly irritating ad of Celcom that everyone complains about in FB??? Get my point… The audience is on this online platforms thus making it the preferred medium for advertisers…

Even for the irritating Celcom ad, I would say it gained an added mileage because often I would see people complaining on their status updates on the Celcom BlackBerry ad, giving it additional exposure simply on brand name and product offering.

Brands like Apple, Sony, GM, Intel and Dell are among the names that rely heavily on online audience to garner sales and increase their market share via branding…

So, if your business has not considered online advertising as part of your campaigns, it’s time that you seriously consider investing on this platform that is growing in number of audience and gaining more eye-views…

  1. Agree. But FB ads is not effective as they're still quite conservative if the ads might irritates the users. Use groups or fan pages to engage is a better option for FB - provided carefully crafted and create a campaign that engages the audience, not forcing.

Just sharing what I'm learning these days :)
