Extraordinary Luncheon
Well, it was an awesome day nevertheless, the roundtable session with 30 state representatives with Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew was rescheduled to after luncheon as they were delayed in meeting earlier.
The luncheon was regal nonetheless but the security details for the event was definitely top notched. Firearms and explosives aside, even any frequency transmitting devices (mobiles/radio) and image capturing devices (handycam/digicam) were not granted audience.
Halfway thru the luncheon, MM Lee Kuan Yew delivered his speech to the audience. A speech that was short and precise, about 20 minutes but yet at the end, it made the listener wanting more!!!
True, like I mentioned on my facebook stat, you actually haven’t lived a life if you never had the opportunity to hear Dr M and MM Lee Kuan Yew addressing a live crowd!!! Two fine gentlemen who are able to capture their audience attention and deliver their message with rhetorics and sheer genius!!!
Just like Dr M, there is a lighter side to MM Lee Kuan Yew, whilst not letting his guards down or making any ‘clausible’ statements… for instance, what strucked me most was when a reporter casually asked him, "if Penang was to be a nation of it's own, would Singapore adopt Penang with similarities that two nations have in common?", he smiled and jokingly replied, "Penang is a State of Malaysia and is a part of a great constitution, nevertheless, even if the impossible happens, you don't pursue a relationship with anyone that will never let go of the past and keep thinking of their previous love, you will pay the price of the hurt caused by another, in other words- it's known as rebound…”, in that short sentence,he probably indicated that it was a question he rather left unanswered and did not answer a yes or no yet shadowing it in a humorous response... simply el remarkable!!!
All in all he left us wanting more, to be inching closer and to have a moment with him to know some of the finest leadership points. Here stood before me a leader who made a significant change and elevated a nation to be the gigantic force of Asia. I always loved seeing how his interaction with Dr M has been all these years, two men who are formidable foes yet friends at the same time. The ones who uphold the chivalric code of war that even an enemy is given due respect and accolades to be recognised that he is fighting for a worthy cause in his soul!
