Facebook App (Version 1.5) for BlackBerry
Finally, after much uproar, leaks and ninja appearances on the web, RIM has officially launched the latest Facebook App for BlackBerry. Not much has changed on the layout but holding on the BlackBerry’s principle of prioritising delivery than showmanship, 3 features truly stands out, but before that, download the app:
http://mobile.blackberry.com/ (from your BlackBerry) or http://na.blackberry.com/eng/devices/features/social/facebook.jsp#tab_tab_download (from your desktop)…
Once loaded, you’d realise that apart from ease of commenting and liking friend’s feed, the three features listed under the options are:
1- BlackBerry Calendar Application
Ticking this allows the integration of your BlackBerry device calendar with your Facebook calendar which features events and birthdays primarily, so girls, he does not have a reason to forget your birthday anymore ;)
2- BlackBerry Message Application
There is one folder that integrates email messages, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger and BlackBerry Messenger messages under one folder, ticking this would allow facebook notifications to be integrated in the same folder…
3- BlackBerry Contacts Application
This has got to be one of the coolest thing, it syncs your Facebook Friend’s List with your BlackBerry Contacts!!! So if you have a friend who has the same email address for his Facebook as in your BlackBerry, his details would be synced!!! So for someone whom you might have only his number and not company details, it will be updated… but there is more to it, if you scroll down further on the set-up and tick the option to update photos:
THEIR PROFILE PIC WILL BE ADDED TO THEIR CONTACT DETAIL!!!
There are cases where you have two emails of the same friend but they seem to not sync is due to the fact that the friend is using another email address, so for this cases, all you have to do is just choose their name from the friends list and click on ‘Connect to BlackBerry Contact’ which will bring up your address book, scroll to find the person and voila, it links up both the details!
For those who has broadband and prefer to see than read, here’s a YouTube explaining the 3 features… Till then, happy facebooking on your BlackBerry and if you are on facebook, I will be creating a group for all friends to share their resource on everything BlackBerry soon!
